Grief is not something we “get over.” It’s something we walk through — and as believers, we walk through it with God. Scripture never promises that faith will shield us from pain. Instead, it assures us that we do not grieve alone. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

When we lose someone we love, the world can feel unfamiliar. We may question God’s plan or even our own faith, yet the Bible reminds us that honest sorrow is an act of worship. The Psalms are full of cries of pain, doubt, and longing. God does not turn away from our tears; He collects them (Psalm 56:8).

Faith-based grief is not about pretending to be strong. It’s about trusting that even in our weakness, Christ is present. He wept at Lazarus’s tomb, showing us that sorrow and faith can exist side by side. Grief changes shape over time, but its purpose is not to erase love — it’s to deepen our dependence on the One who gives life beyond death.

When we invite God into our grief, He transforms it. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting; it means remembering with hope. Through prayer, community, and scripture, we begin to see that death is not the end — it’s a doorway.

As Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). That comfort may not erase our pain, but it gives it meaning. In grief, we learn not just to let go, but to hold on — to faith, to love, and to the promise of resurrection.
